Weclome to Skyrac Seniors

Skyrac AC has a strong history of developing athletes of all abilities and age is definitely not a barrier. So, if you are looking to smash that 5K time or achieve a new marathon PB, we can help.

We meet on Tuesday nights at 7.00pm at Nunroyd Pavilion just off the New Road (A65).

Tuesday’s sessions are led by our experienced coach Peter Rawnsley (Peter is currently unable to attend, but is aiming to be back soon). The sessions are varied each week with the aims of developing speed and endurance. By utilising the natural features of Nunroyd Park the sessions can involve hill work, interval training and fartlek type sessions. If you want to improve your fitness and achieve a new PB, then these sessions are a must.

There is no pressure to join the club and an important element of the sessions is having fun. If you do become a Skyrac AC member, then you will be able to get England Athletics affiliated club prices to enter races and discounts at national & local running stores.

Furthermore, if you want to take your athletics journey to the next level, then Skyrac AC has opportunities to participate at both regional and national events.

We enter lady’s and men’s teams in road, cross country and fell races, plus as a member of the North of England Track & Field League we compete in the East 1N division. Skyrac is always on the look out for new talent, in particular anyone who wants to try throwing, jumping or leaping as part of our field team is more than welcome. Pop down to a training session and talk to Gordon about the opportunities we offer.

The Club also organises two local races each year, we ask members to volunteer to help run these events, they are the very popular Gusieley Gallop and Chevin Fell Race. We also hold one of the West Yorkshire Cross Country events at Nunroyd Park.

Peter Rawnsley is the Senior Session Leader for the senior team and coordinates the Tuesday sessions, he has been with Skyrac for over 40 years.
